The Face of the Earth

Born from mineral color and layered wax relief, Visage de la Terre reflects the earth not simply as landscape, but as a presence—ancient, weight-bearing, and quietly alive.

Its shifting strata evoke stone, sediment, clay, and fragments of buried color shaped slowly under pressure. Dense earthen tones anchor the composition, while passages of red, blue, yellow, and green emerge like mineral seams breaking through the surface.

Together, they express the earth’s enduring strength: its ability to carry weight, preserve memory, and sustain life without asking to be seen.

Hand-poured in small batches as part of the Poème en Cire collection, each candle is individually cast, composed, and finished by hand. Its colors and relief form organically as the wax settles and cools. Even the artist who created it cannot reproduce the same composition twice. Every candle is a singular, one-of-one work.

Artisanal Character

Every Visage de la Terre candle is one of a kind. Variations in wax strata, mineral tones, surface relief, translucency, and finish arise naturally through the casting and cooling process. They are not imperfections, but records of pressure, movement, and time held within the material.

No two pieces will ever be identical—not even when made by the same hands. Each candle preserves its own terrain, internal balance, and singular face of the earth.

The candle may arrive with a softly luminous surface created during the molding process. Over time, the wax may naturally develop a more matte, mineral-like patina. This gradual surface evolution is characteristic of the wax and does not affect the candle’s quality or performance.

Safety

Remove all tags and decorative ties before lighting. Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch before each burn. Burn within sight and keep away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable objects. Always place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
